#IAmPontiac, Young & Talented

Oakland County Michigan Works – Pontiac, the City of Pontiac, and Pontiac Collective Impact Partnership have launched a youth summer jobs initiative – iamPontiac Young & Talented!. The purpose of this program is to provide summer work experiences, paid internships, 21st-century skills training, and more to Pontiac’s youth and young adults ages 16-24 years old. Summer youth employment programs are essential to ensure that youth gain valuable workforce experience and have a safe, productive way to spend their time.

Through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), federal dollars will serve as the funding source for this initiative. The WIOA youth program provides a comprehensive array of services and training opportunities for in-school and out-of-school youth with one or more employment barriers. In addition, the WIOA program prepares opportunity youth for postsecondary education and employment opportunities, skills training credentials, and certification opportunities.

It is our goal to engage Youth with opportunities that will help them develop 21st century skills and equip them for post-secondary success.
