It’s a Wrap! PCIP in 2023 and What’s Ahead for 2024

We’re grateful for all we’ve been able to achieve this year and can’t wait to work with you in 2024

This year has been nothing short of incredible for the Pontiac Collective Impact Partnership. The diligent work that Anisha and Samino have engaged in with the community over the past couple of years has resulted in the development of our Strategic Plan, and laid the groundwork for how PCIP can best support our community’s meaningful growth and revitalization.

A Call to Action: Improving Opportunities for Pontiac’s Youth

Another major win for us with the addition of two of our area’s most skilled organizers and community development workers: Cal Talley and Chris Rutherford. Both Cal and Chris joined PCIP with extensive experience in community development focused on increasing educational, professional, and economic outcomes for our youth. Cal has since expanded our Pontiac Counts! Data Hub, and Chris has strengthened our community and partner relationships as we set our sights on our audacious Cradle to Career Readiness outcomes.

2023 Youth Expo: 13 Reasons Why You Matter

Amidst our internal growth and development, we’ve continued to function as an integral supporter and collaborator with other local organizations who are also focused on Pontiac’s development. We’ve helped with fundraisers, a community-wide clean-up, a panel on the legal system, offer career and professional resources for our youth, and shared stories of two of Pontiac’s shining stars — Eisha Branner and Sam Rogers

We are particularly proud of the recent success of the 2nd Annual Christmas in November event. In collaboration with the ASCEND Foundation and our partner Amazon, we helped distribute over $2m of Amazon’s in-kind product donations to the community. Special thanks to Mr. Kaino Phillips and the ASCEND Foundation for all of their hard work in coordinating the event, and to Mr. Torre Brown at Amazon for their incredible generosity.

So, what does 2024 hold for us? We’re excited to kick it off with a series of events that share Pontiac’s Common Agenda to inspire Economic Mobility. At PCIP, we’re tying our Cradle to Career Readiness outcomes to help support this community-wide goal. You can read more about what we’re working on, and why, on our blog — and sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop about upcoming events.

The entire team at PCIP is deeply grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with so many passionate, skilled, and dedicated experts within the civic, community, private, and non-profit sectors of Pontiac, Oakland County, and Michigan. We wish you a peaceful holiday season and look forward to building brighter futures together, with you, next year.
